Terms of service
Last updated: 20 September 2026
These terms govern use of the NovaTranslate website and any translation instruction you place with us. By instructing us or using this site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site or pay an instruction fee.
1. The contracting party
You contract with NovaTranslate, the operator of this website. References to “we”, “us” and “our” mean NovaTranslate. “You” means the individual or organisation placing the instruction.
2. The service
We provide written translation of documents you supply, into a stated target language, with a review pass before delivery. Two published plans are offered:
- Basic — £179.99, standard scheduling
- Priority — £189.99, priority scheduling
Unless agreed in writing, the service does not include interpreting, notarisation, apostille, consular legalisation or desktop publishing of complex artwork.
3. Formation of contract
A contract is formed when you complete payment for a plan (or when we accept a written instruction, if earlier). You warrant that you have authority to instruct us on the material submitted, and that the material does not infringe third-party rights or applicable law.
4. Your obligations
You must supply a complete, legible source file, state the language pair and intended use, and respond promptly to queries about ambiguous wording. We are not responsible for errors that originate in the source, in an incomplete scan, or in a brief that omits a receiving-body requirement.
5. Fees and taxes
Fees are as published on the pricing page at the time of payment. Any applicable tax will be shown at checkout or on the invoice. Additional work outside the instructed file is quoted before it is undertaken.
6. Delivery
Delivery is electronic. Timelines run from receipt of a complete, usable source file and any information reasonably required to begin. We may pause the clock while waiting for your clarification.
7. Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel and obtain a full refund within fourteen (14) calendar days of purchase, no questions asked. After that period, refunds are at our discretion except where statute requires otherwise. See the refund policy.
8. Intellectual property
You retain rights in the source material. Subject to payment (or as otherwise required by law), you may use the completed translation for the purpose stated in the instruction. We retain our working methods, glossaries we already owned, and the website content. You grant us a limited licence to process the source solely to perform the service.
9. Confidentiality
We treat source files and translations as confidential, except where disclosure is required by law or you have authorised it. Linguists engaged on the file are bound to equivalent confidentiality.
10. Acceptable use of the website
You must not misuse the site, attempt unauthorised access, submit malware, scrape the site in bulk, or use it to instruct work that is unlawful. We may suspend access where we reasonably suspect abuse.
11. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be limited under English law. Subject to that:
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of opportunity;
- We are not liable for a receiving authority’s refusal to accept a translation;
- Our aggregate liability arising from an instruction is limited to the fee paid for that instruction.
Further limits are described in the disclaimer.
12. Consumer rights
If you instruct us as a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. The version in force at the time of your payment applies to that instruction. Continued use of the website after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms for future use.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers may also bring proceedings in their UK home courts where the law so provides.
